Abstract

Terminology is one of the sciences that culminated decades of transformation in several fields, including cultural, political, economic, industrial, and scientific, as it formed the foundations on which its edifices are built. This research is an attempt to read the terms (connotation and meaning) through the book (Semantics) by Irene Tampa, as we find the translator’s imprint clear in explaining the meanings that the two terms revolve around, as well as presenting and analyzing them in light of what was mentioned by modern linguists.  It is no secret that the Arabs - ancient and modern - are interested in scientific and technical terminology, and the importance of terminology increased with the beginning of translation, as authors and translators needed words that accurately indicate the sciences, and terminology became the basic foundation in the acquisition of sciences, as terminology is the keys to sciences.
