Abstract

The title and cover thresholds are among the most important thresholds of the literary text in general. And in a novel “Mohammed’s Brothers” by Maysaloon Hadi, especially because she shortened the novel and worked on the factor of attraction and suspense strongly by choosing the outer cover and its artistic composition of colors and a panel that translated the text with the inspirations of our great writer, and here the threshold of the cover achieved its work in a good and beautiful way. As for the threshold of the title, the title is characterized by ambiguity and suspense to attract the reader and draw him to the completion of the narrative text. It carries with it many questions who are the brothers of Muhammad, how did they form the reason for calling them by this name, why the word (brothers) did not use alternative words such as (group, league, and others). Of course, it has a purpose in formulating the title of our chosen novel for this research. And I followed the analytical method in standing on the literary texts and analyzing them to reveal the relationship between the title and the text. The results revealed to us that the title is from the womb of the Iraqi street because the novel dealt with a specific aspect of the history of Iraq and this made us also engage in the historical approach to clarify and question that period that was limited to the time of the novel
