Abstract

This research aims at investigating the contributions of Abdullah Haussein Al-bar’s research the Duality of the Ego and the other in Noniyat Al-Muthaqb Al-Abdi with reference to the so many signs that research provides. These signs encode many meanings that need further investigation to show their semantic depth through tracing their antonymic dualities. The researcher in the current study employed the same antonym technique employed in the research under investigation as this technique produces meaning. The researcher did not only use antonym with reference to words but also with reference to text features and signs. Thus, the ego and the other duality here goes beyond the structuralist concept of integration to the deconstructionist concept of constant difference as in these arrangements; the duality of ego / Fatemah, the duality of the ego / she camel, the duality of the ego / Amr, the duality of the ego / the comers in future.
